I have a mental illness. I am mentally ill. I can barely bring myself to say the words. I have not uttered the phrase “I am mentally ill” out loud.

Depression lingers like an unwelcome ghost trailing behind me. And most days, I accept that. I acknowledge that. And, I’m okay. What if one day I’m not?
