This Week in Hillary-World: Secret White House Docs Make the GOP Salivate

Each week, we explore Hillary Clinton's universe, gleaning insights from rumor-mongers, pundits, pollsters, political writers and more. Yes, the election is still a bazillion years away, but when it comes to the story of the potential first female president ever (!!), it's never too early to start the conversation.

1. GOP Bummed Out by Lack of Juice in "Secret" Hillary Papers

This morning, archivists released thousands of pages of records from Bill's presidency, including some documents relating to Hillary. The GOP has been salivating over the prospect of sensational dirt, but it turns out the records are pretty much a snoozefest of memos, emails and docs detailing her work on things like the health care task force and micro-credit. Yawn.

As discussed before, Hillary's greatest strength remains the fact that every potentially juicy morsel has already been unearthed and discussed ad nauseam. Finding new stuff at this point will not be easy for opponents to dig up.

2. Joe Biden Laments Hillary's Dominance in the Race

We all love "Uncle Joe" as much as the next gal and have always felt a little bad that in presumptive presidential candidate polls, he routinely get his ass whupped by Hills. This week, he directly addressed this sad reality when he huffed to Politico that 2016 is "lifetimes away" and he is "as qualified as anybody." This is true, but we just don't see this lovable giver of gaffes halting Clinton's seemingly unstoppable momentum. But don't worry, Joe: we'll still toast a cold one to ya.

3. Bill Continues to Not Go Away

Surprise: Bill continues to play a massive part in Hillary coverage. This Washington Post op-ed makes a convincing case for why Bill remains Hill's burden, with all of society — politcal-leaning and otherwise — focusing on his past transgressions rather than her actual accomplishments. (And yes, we realize we are doing this, too. As you can see, it's a vicious cycle!)

4. Hillary's Health Scare: A Big To-Do About Nothing

The Daily Caller, typically a fairly reputable site, announced this week that "Rumors persist that Hillary won't run: Health may be worse than disclosed." But upon reading the story you realize these "rumors" are stemming from straight-up tabloids like The National Enquirer. And so it goes: the media continues to work itself ragged looking for salacious scandals to break through the news cycle—accuracy and integrity be damned.

The Lowdown

While the secret docs posed a bit of a threat to Hillary's momentum, it looks like they won't do much — if anything — to knock the wind out of her sails. In fact, a new poll shows that 82% of Dems want her to run, further solidifiying her current dominance. (Sorry, Joe!)
