Senator Goes to Wrong Hearing, Questions Government Official Anyway

Senate hearings: where government officials go to be skewered by the legislature.

And if this clip is any indication, senators are willing to skewer even if they don’t know anything about the topic being covered! Now that's dedication.

Here Senator Dan Coats of Indiana unknowingly goes to the wrong hearing: he’s supposed to address a defense undersecretary, but ends up questioning a Treasury official. Thankfully, before he got too entrenched in grilling the wrong guy, an aide passed Coats a note—seriously?—revealing the mix up. "Well, that would explain why I didn't know anything about this letter," Coats said of a correspondence the treasure official had brought up.

Ample jokes, and face-saving attempts follow! Still unconfirmed whether the senator finally found his way to the correct hearing, or if he simply left a trail of legislative confusion/general humilation.
