Jenny Le: Nordstrom Associate, Textile & Fashion Grad

Spotted: Fremont, Seattle

What are you up to today?

I'm relaxing on my day off.

What's your occupation?
I work for Nordstrom.

What do you like about what you do?
I do retail, and I went to school for textile and fashion design. It's fun being around people, and moving on up in the company.

Do you do any side projects?
Yeah. On my days off I like to sketch, so today I did some sketching.

What kinds of things are you sketching?
Clothing — fashion design.

Is there a particular style that you're drawn to?
My fashion icons would be Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Like their line The Row?
Yeah, and their other fusion line, Elizabeth and James. It's that contemporary design. It's also like Alexander Wang — those kind of basics. I love that.

Close Up

Have you always lived in Seattle?
No, I just moved here from North Carolina.

How was the move?
It was good! Luckily I have some family here, but it's really different from the South.

In what way?
I think the people. There you have the Southern hospitality and charm, and here the people are more reserved. But the nature and the weather here are really nice, minus the rainy season.

What drew you to Seattle?
I've always wanted to live on the West coast. I thought about SF for a bit, but there's just something about here. It's kind of quirky.

So do you live here in the Fremont area?
I do.

Where are some of your favorite places to hang out?
For drinks/cocktails I like Quoin, which is part of Revel — it's a Korean fusion restaurant. I love the lattes at Fremont Coffee. There's certain things that I love, such as the gluten-free bakery Flying Apron, and PCC Natural Market.

What's something that's caught your interest lately?
Last weekend we had the Fremont Solstice Fair. It was so fun! As the weather is getting nicer, more people are outside doing festivals. Music festivals are something that I really like to do.

What's your favorite type of thing to see?
Recently, I've been waiting for the new Frank Ocean album to come out. And then I'm going to catch The Weeknd, he's so big right now. And in a few weeks I'm going to Austin City Limits. I'm meeting my good friends from school there. I went to school in North Carolina, and since we all live so far away, we're going to meet at a music festival, you know? [laughs]

Athletic Wear + Bold Prints

I also wanted to ask about your outfit today, because you're wearing this sporty jacket with this fun dress and shoes!
I do! I love shoes lately. These are Sam Edelman. You know how athletic gear is really in right now? I love this. So I changed the shoelaces to red because there's a rose pattern on my shoes. It's just kind of funky. As for the dress, I just decided to throw on some print today. This is my day off outfit, because I wear black a lot. Today I felt like being casual and easygoing.

The jacket's a nice color too!
This is Patagonia. It's pretty cool because you can collapse it into a fanny pack. It's a great jacket for festivals. Mostly I wear it like a bag.
