Get excited, Arendellians! Not only has Disney greenlighted a sequel to Frozen, but news broke this week that the Ice Queen and friends are headed to Broadway!
The show isn’t slated to open until 2018, so all the little kids who are twirling around in Anna and Elsa costumes today have a long wait ahead of them. Parents can breathe a sigh of relief however, as it give us all two more years to learn how to do the perfect theatre-appropriate Elsa-braid (and to save up for pricey Broadway tickets).
The score for the new musical is being written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the brains behind the movie score and such smash musicals as Book of Mormon and Avenue Q.
No words on casting yet — although it would be AMAZEBALLS if Broadway veterans Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff — who voiced Elsa and Kristof in the movie — would find their way on the the stage! Even if they only showed up for a special performance on opening night, that would be a real treat!
