Is there a difference between what the cigs biz did back in the 1950s and ‘60s and the way present-day pharmaceutical companies have aggressively marketed opioids like OxyContin?

So in case you didn’t hear, everyone’s favorite conservative sweetheart Tomi Lahren was permanently banned from The Blaze after her appearance on The View on March 17th, 2017.

Wendy Carrillo is part of a field of 23 candidates who are competing to fill the Congressional seat in the 34th District in California. A child who was smuggled to America to escape the civil war in El Salvador, Carrillo has spoken about her personal journey in the context of the current fight for immigration rights.

When I took on this assignment to write about the traumatizing byproduct our polarized political landscape has had on personal relationships — with polls estimating tension is the new normal between family and/or friends for nearly 40% of Americans — I smugly thought this trend didn’t impact me. The important people in my life felt equally horrified at the results of the election.

My mother and I may never see eye to eye on politics, and our value systems may seldom align. Sometimes it feels like we try to breach this divide; other times we dig a deeper rift.

The news cycle feels like a roller coaster ride these days. We’re all sitting in this little car, plunging up and down without any control over anything. But at least we have Dan Rather along for the ride.
